Chef Jay Ramblings

Recently Lisa and I went to watch a football game at Rice University. If you have time to go to a college football game you should. It was so much fun to be around so many people who were having a good time doing something they love.

Happiness and laughter is infectious. Whether you like football or anything else, take the time to enjoy it while you can. Without happiness life is unfulfilled. I can share with you a secret I have learned. When you think you couldn't be any happier, share your happiness with a friend or loved one...better yet, a whole bunch of them. Your happiness will multiply.

Hmm, you're probably wondering what this has to do with anything related to peppers! Well, nothing...and everything. I've been neglecting sending out this newsletter because of time, but I've really missed it.

I love talking about peppers and hot stuff and sharing my thoughts with you all. So in an effort to share with you more, I am going to make these newsletters shorter and hopefully they'll be more often. No promises, but I will try!

I've been playing around with some new ways to share recipes and cooking ideas on the internet. Social Networking, in particular MySpace and YouTube, have taken the internet by storm.

For those of you not familiar, YouTube is a video sharing site. I have posted a few cooking videos on my site. One I found on YouTube and the other at Google Video. Check them both out and let me know which you like better.

The first video is a simple salsa recipe. It is pretty entertaining, and the guy who made it reminds me of Alton Brown, the guy on "Good Eats" for those of you who watch the Food Network. Lisa doesn't share my enthusiasm for his technique...let me know what you think.

The second is a video recipe for barbecue jerk chicken made by a couple of guys who love tailgating. They are pretty funny too, and I love jerk chicken, so this is probably my favorite of the two. But let me know your opinion and I'll find some more for you to view next time.

So, I just wanted to give you a glimpse of what is to come and what I've been up to. I hope you like the changes to the newsletter now and in the future, but rest assured it is still going to be all about cooking and hot and spicy foods!
